In Modern Times, I really liked how Chaplin made the scenes with a
mixture of what life looked like in the past and what life looks like now. So
he basically predicted the future by adding what it would look like to live the
American Dream, where he and his girlfriend had a home to live in, although, it
wasn’t fancy, it still included many features of what a home would look like
now. I also appreciated his comic; he was very funny in every way possible. I
also noticed something in the movie that no one had mentioned in my class;
Chaplin also compared the movie with his past life, in the scene where Chaplin
had forgotten the lyrics for his performance, he also connected that to his mother
when he was just a child, she had forgotten the lyrics,but Chaplin, somehow,
found himself on stage, even when he didn’t know what to do, he still managed
to entertain the crowd in Modern Times and at his mother’s performance when he
was a young child.
Excellent! I had never thought of that comparison - Chaplin's mom losing her voice with Chaplin losing the words to the song! Well thought out! A very insightful observation. Glad you are watching so closely and thinking so deeply! Very, very well done!
