Week of June 5th

My group and I thought we were done but we noticed a few things that did not make any sense. We will be filming this weekend to  fix those minor mistakes.

Week of May 29th

So my group and I are almost done with the film for Ms.Shaath. We have finished the script for our third film, so we are going to be filming today in the evening. We also finished the storyboard so we are set to begin our narrative. I went to the LAUSD Film Festival and I really enjoyed it because not only were my classmate's film in the fest, but there were many other teens my age or younger doing what they love best. I think its amazing how we are continuing the generation of filmmaking. I also liked seeing a few familiar faces from TV/Movies. That was pretty cool. I H8 U.

Week of May 22nd

My group and I are waiting on two more interviews then we will complete our 2nd film. We are also starting on our 3rd film.

Week of May 15th

We interviewed a few more people, however, there were some people we couldn't get in contact with due to the AP testing, but our goal for next week is to be finished with film number 2. We are also writing a script for our 3rd film, and we are very excited about that.

Week of May 8th

My group and I showed Ms.Saath the clips of several students we interviewed. She was content with it and asked us to not edit until we record a few more people. We are almost done with that one, meanwhile, we are working on our 3rd film. YAY.

Week of the 24th

Last week we finished touching up our music video. It took us longer than we had expected because we had to match up the scenes with the lyrics and beats of the song. However, we are ready to show you the video.

Week of the 17th

In my group, we have finished majority of the film. Today during lunch we will complete the beginning of  the music video then we will turn it in. We contacted our "actor" and he approved to be part of our film. We are determined today to finish our video. OUr previous actor's schedule was conflicting with ours, but we finally found the perfect person.

My Week of April 10th, 2015

Hello. So like my group and I are currently editing our film; we are almost done. There are a few more things we need to include but by the end of next week our film will be complete and ready to show to ugh... Mr. Lansdown...
 We are trying to include some humor in our music video, and just have fun with it all. My group and I believe that we could make a good film if we plan it step by step, but we also believe that we can make a great film by allowing everything to go with the flow but with caution. We want our film to end up being a humorous video but also be kind of serious. We want the viewers to be able to gain more knowledge when they watch it and appreciate life more.

What I Did in the Second Week

This week my group and I have finished with the middle of our music video. It took place at CityWalk and it is mainly about enjoying life and just having a great time. The middle of the work shows where the event took place, whereas in the beginning and end  took place somewhere else. It will have some sort of comedy in the beginning of the music video. Now, what we are headed to do is to record the beginning and end of the video, then edit it into our clips and we will be finished. It has been so much fun that our work soon feels like an activity rather than a job for school.

My Week of March 27th, 2015

My friends and I (Cindy Garcia, Sasha Navarro and Jasmine Medina) are making a music video! My group and I are currently developing the story board for it. This week has been the easy week of it all since we are just thinking of many ideas to bring to the video. It is going along smoothly but we already have our film set date to Sunday, March 29th and we are all very excited about that. I love how we are all pitching in ideas and offers. We are researching our ideas and checking if our work will be permitted to take place at our recording area. We aren't disagreeing with each other, instead we are cooperating with each other and respecting each others opinions.

What Music Means to Me

Music means a lot of things to me, it is so hard to put that into words. In my toughest times when i do not even understand how to express myself, the music does it for me. For instance, this is quite personal but I wasn't there to say goodbye to my grandma before she passed away. I feel so sick to my stomach at times when i think about the fact of not going with my dad to the nursing home for the last time when she had passed away;correspondently, i knew that if i would have seen her, the image of her face would of still been in my mind for ever. The pain that she was enduring was a pain i did not want to imagine her having. I came across a song called "Yellow" by Coldplay and found out that the lyrics were about the singers mom passing away of liver cancer and having yellow skin tone. I related to this song so much and when i listen to it, i feel like i am having a long-lasting conversation with her. Thats what music does: music speaks for me when i do not even have the words to express myself. It is there for me when I cannot even be there for myself, and that is the beauty of it all.

Problems and Struggles

Here at Bell High School, one main problem I’ve seen students face—especially in 9^th grade—is trying to fit in with the right crowd, or lets just say “wrong crowd.” When I first came to bell in year 2011, it wasn’t so hard for me to find myself as a person because I had my best friend with me and that’s all I really needed. Till sayd day, we still are by each other side and have learned so much, too. However, saw many people struggle… I met a boy in the 10^th grade who was gang related. He looked sad once and I asked him what was wrong and he said his family. I then asked him if he felt happy with whom he was and he said, “I guess.” Of course it wasn’t my business to ask this boy if he’s happy or not, but Isaw the light in his eyes and knew that eventually, through guide, he will find himself. “ I am who I am because I need to be a reflection of my family.” His family has been in gangs for generations and generations. I saw the intelligence in this boy and told him, “ You should be who you want to be because you’re YOU. It should be difficult but one day you will find yourself and you will be happy. “ My point is that people are afraid to hang out with the right crowd because feel as if the bad crowd will hurt them and make them feel worthless. I haven’t seen this boy but I hope he is happy and safe. 

The Most Interesting Person in the World!

When I was in the search for a vocal coach mid last year , I felt like i couldn’t find a good, experienced vocalist but luckily with the connections of my grandpa, I found an excellent coach whose name is David. My grandpa didn’t know the man but he has heard that hes trained many successful people, so we went ahead and went to his old apartment in Hollywood for my first vocal training. My mom and I met him and were utterly surprised by how old he was…he was 82 when I first met him…ill just let you sink that in… His teachings were just amazing though, I have learned so much from him. From the range of a different set of vocal warm ups to when I asked him if he was married and he said, “No, I am still waiting on THE one.” It’s just amazing how positive and full of energy this man is. He has been playing a role in the Nutcracker every year for I don’t know how many years now. He recently bought himself a brand new Cadillac and drove from Los Angeles to Ohio on his own. He does this every year in June and returns back to Los Angeles in November. This man is incredible. I asked how he does it, and he said he eats a lot of veggies and just wakes up every morning with much energy because no day of our life should ever be wasted on negativity. I wanna be like him when I am old, in all honesty. 

My Anti-Drug

I don't have much to stress over but school, other than that i do not have anything else let get in the way of my comfort and happiness. However, when I let stress get to me, I like to make my own playlist of my favorite songs that relate to my certain mood. When i listen to the music, it is like my escape route. It is a different thing when i listen to the music to when I actually sing it. If i know the lyrics to the song or not, I like to go to my living room and connect the microphone and just sing, sing, sing and sing. I feel like singing has not only helped me improve my voice, but I have been able to find myself in the music and be able to capture my emotions. Music has been there for me through my toughest times, and  also through my happiness. I have learned how to express my emotions and become more open to what i am really feeling just by listening to music, and that is the greatest and most natural thing ever to me.

What I've Learned from An Inconvenient Truth

I used to not care if I left an empty plastic bag on the ground because I would expect someone else to pick up after me (I was younger, don’t judge.) As I watched this documentary, I have realized that our planet is very sensitive. I think that if we start off by picking up after ourselves, and even picking up after ignorant children like myself (when I was a child, geez!), it would make a huge difference. People will follow our steps, and eventually our planet will be greener than ever. I have learned that every person is the cause of pollution, but also every other person is the cause of a greater change. Even just ONE person can make a change. Al Gore for instance, he had mentioned that he presented his slideshow ATLEAST one thousand times, but now imagine how many times he has been presented by teachers to their classmates? And other places. That video is ten years old, but after watching Al Gore’s documentary, I think that his outstanding slideshow made a difference and is continuing to rise to the top. Especially those animated clips he introduced, those were cool.
