Here at Bell High School, one main problem I’ve seen
students face—especially in 9th grade—is trying to fit in with the
right crowd, or lets just say “wrong crowd.” When I first came to bell in year
2011, it wasn’t so hard for me to find myself as a person because I had my best
friend with me and that’s all I really needed. Till sayd day, we still are by each
other side and have learned so much, too. However, saw many people struggle…
I met a boy in the 10th grade who was gang related. He looked sad
once and I asked him what was wrong and he said his family. I then asked him if
he felt happy with whom he was and he said, “I guess.” Of course it wasn’t my
business to ask this boy if he’s happy or not, but Isaw the light in his eyes
and knew that eventually, through guide, he will find himself. “ I am who I am
because I need to be a reflection of my family.” His family has been in gangs
for generations and generations. I saw the intelligence in this boy and told
him, “ You should be who you want to be because you’re YOU. It should be
difficult but one day you will find yourself and you will be happy. “ My point
is that people are afraid to hang out with the right crowd because feel as if
the bad crowd will hurt them and make them feel worthless. I haven’t seen this
boy but I hope he is happy and safe.
